South Africa 1d King George V definitive, rose-red shade, springbok head watermark, on-piece with near complete MASERU type 7A circular cancel dated 13 JAN 27. Clear example. Fine used.
Note: stamps of Cape of Good Hope were used in Basutoland from 1876 followed, from 1910, by stamps of South Africa. It wasn't until December 1933 that Basutoland issued its own stamps
