BOTSWANA 1977 (MNH) P1/R1 CITRINE, TYPE I SECOND PRINTING
P1/R1 Citrine provisional, PVAD (bluish) gum, type I surcharge in letterpress from second printing by Government Printer in Pretoria, with surcharge at lower left instead of top right. Scarce. Fresh and fine. Mint lightly hinged. SG379a; SC157var
Note: provisionals with type I surcharges printed litho by the Government Printer in Pretoria first appeared 23 August 1976. The surcharges are located at the top right of stamps with the exception of the 25t which is at the lower left and the P2 which is at the lower right. A second small printing using the type I surcharge took place at a later date on stock sent by the Crown Agents. By the time the second printing took place, the original surcharged stock had been dispersed and no records of the placement of the surcharges kept. Hence a limited quantity of the 3t, 7t, 50t and P1 values exist with the surcharges in different locations to those originally released. The 3t, 7t and 50t surcharges from the second Pretoria printing appear at the lower right of stamps while the P1 surcharge appears at the lower left
